VIDEO: Watch the trailer for Angelina Jolie’s incredible new WW2 film
AFTER worldwide smash Maleficent, Angelina Jolie has directed Unbroken - the powerful true-life story of one man’s survival against unbelievable odds during the Second World War
Riding high on the worldwide success of her starring role in blockbuster Maleficent, Angelina Jolie has stepped back behind the camera to direct and produce upcoming war film Unbroken.
This is Jolie's third film as a director, following the 2007 documentary A Place In Time and the hard-hitting 2011 film In The Land of Blood and Honey, about the conflict in Bosnia.
The epic drama follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII - only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
The difficult scenes at sea were shot on a floating set in Moreton Bay, Australia, a million miles away from Jolie’s usual Hollywood lifestyle with husband Brad Pitt and their family.
Unbroken is adapted from Laura Hillenbrand’s book of the same name and features Jack O’Connell, Finn Wittrock, Garrett Hedlund and About Time Brit star Domhall Gleeson.
