WARNING SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS ENDGAME AND CAPTAIN MARVEL AHEAD. During the various endings for Avengers Endgame, Peter Parker returns to high school where he’s reunited with Ned. And now fans have spotted what looks like Ben Mendelsohn, who played the Skrull Talos in Captain Marvel, in his human form in the background. The character appears to be a school administrator and is seen giving high fives to students as they walk in.
Marvel fans will remember that the Skrulls were revealed to not be villains in Captain Marvel.
And the last we saw of Talos was departing Earth with Carol Danvers to find a new homeward for his people.
Assuming it is him, just what is Talos doing back on Earth 28 years after the events of Captain Marvel?
This has led fans to speculate that Spider-Man Far From Home and Marvel Phase 4 will introduce the comic book storyline Secret Invasion.
In the crossover comic book event, the Skrulls quietly replaced superheroes before invading Earth.
This could tie in with the rumoured Dark Avengers movies that may be in the works.
Norman Osborn aka The Green Goblin is rumoured to be the next big baddie in the MCU after Thanos.
In the comics, he led the Dark Avengers, which sees villains disguised as superheroes.
Meanwhile, Avengers Endgame directors The Russo Brothers have explained the five-year problem.
After all, those who didn’t get dusted in 2018 during Avengers Infinity War will have graduated from high school while Peter and others will be the same age they were then but now in 2023, having been resurrected.
They confirmed: “The reason Spider-Man saw his friend again in high school at the end was simply because his friends were unfortunately also dusted like Spider-Man was. Of course, there are people in his grade who didn't die and they are probably already in colleges by now.
“To those dusted people, they were not conscious in these past 5 years. They didn't know what happened. It's as if they just woke up from a long sleep.”
Spider-Man Far From Home is released in UK cinemas on July 2, 2019.
