Avengers Endgame’s Guardians of the Galaxy SONG – Listen to the Benatar's new track HERE
AVENGERS ENDGAME featured a new Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Song, just like Avengers Infinity War.
Avengers: Endgame teaser sees superheroes 'fight for their lives'
In the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, fans were treated to two Awesome Mix albums featuring hit songs from the 60s and 70s. And when they joined Avengers Infinity War the cosmic superheroes were introduced with one track in 1976’s The Rubberband Man by The Spinners. Perfectly chosen as Thanos is that Rubberband Man on his way to go “Snap!”. And wonderfully Avengers Endgame features another Guardians Awesome Mix track from Star-Lord’s Microsoft Zune too. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD.
Avengers Endgame opens with 1967’s Dear Mr Fantasy by Traffic over the Marvel Studios logo.
We then see Nebula and Tony Stark playing a game aboard the Benatar where the song is presumably playing off Star-Lord’s Zune.
And just like Rubberband Man, Dear Mr Fantasy’s lyrics are incredibly significant for the opening of Avengers Endgame.
The words talk of the current sadness following the defeat at the end of Avengers Infinity War, while also mentioning Thanos’ Snap – the cause of the situation. They read as follows:
Dear Mr Fantasy play us a tune
Something to make us all happy
Do anything, take us out of this gloom
Sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy
Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is currently in the works.
James Gunn was recently reinstated as director after apologising for controversial joke tweets he made a decade ago.
Avengers Endgame is out now.
