Aladdin trailer TODAY: What time does the Will Smith Genie teaser drop?
ALADDIN’s trailer arrives today for Guy Richie’s live-action Disney remake starring Will Smith as the Genie, but at what time?
Aladdin Musical Stage Performance London - Official Trailer
Yesterday Will Smith himself revealed the first teaser poster for Disney’s live action remake of Aladdin.
Harkening back to the 1991 original, the simple image showed the lamp that contains his Genie with smoking billing forth gently as it sits in the Cave of Wonders.
The tagline simply reads: ‘Choose Wisely.”
Meanwhile Aladdin star Mena Massoud posted the imagine last night, while confirming on his Instagram Story: “Trailer. Tomorrow.”
But what time will the Aladdin trailer arrive today? It was initially reported by Screen Rant to be expected at around 2pm BST.
Allegedly this timing is based on knowledge of how Disney manages its marketing campaigns.
However that soon proved to be untrue - and Trailer Track then reported that 5pm UK time was more likely.
Smith certainly has a lot to live up to following Robin Williams’ iconic performance as the Genie in the animated film.
The late comedian was famous for his ad-libbing and comical improvisation that involved multiple impressions of celebrities and accents.
While Homer Simpson star Dan Castellaneta voiced Williams’ incarnation in Return of Jafar and the Aladdin TV series, no doubt Smith will be going for his own original rendition.
After all, the actors who play Genie in the Aladdin musical stage show certainly don’t attempt to impersonate Williams’ unique take on the character.
Meanwhile, Aladdin isn’t the only Disney live-action remake we’ll be getting in 2019. Fans can also look forward to Tim Burton’s Dumbo and Jon Favreau’s The Lion King.
Most recently Lady Gaga has been rumoured for Ursula in The Little Mermaid.
New versions of Lady and the Tramp, Mulan and Lilo and Stitch are also in the works.
Aladdin is released in UK cinemas on May 24, 2019.
