Theresa May will stand up to the European Union's bullying tactics
OF course Jean-Claude Juncker and his acolytes have sought to portray his meeting with Theresa May last week as a disaster.
Jean-Claude Juncker has shown he is willing to fight dirty
This is nothing more than a grubby tactic that the chief Eurocrat is deploying in a bid to destabilise Brexit and unsettle the Prime Minister.
Faced with losing the EU’s second highest net contributor he will resort to any means possible to prevent Mrs May implementing the referendum result.
In his battle to prevent Brexit, Juncker is planning to fight dirty.
Disappointingly he finds no shortage of willing collaborators in this country.
Senior figures from the Lib Dems, Labour and the SNP were quick to seize on the leaked details of the encounter – which have been disputed by Downing Street – as evidence that Brexit is doomed and the Prime Minister’s negotiations will fail.
This is an appalling way for supposedly sensible politicians to behave.
Theresa May: I want to see EVERY part of our country succeed
Downing Street have disputed the credibility of the leaked documents
Instead of colluding with a foreign bureaucrat to thwart the will of the people they ought to be supporting a Prime Minister who has an enormous democratic mandate to take Britain out of the EU.
The British people will not stand for being bullied by Brussels.
Fortunately in Mrs May we have a leader who has more than enough backbone to stand up to Juncker
The staggering cost of TV and phone use in hospitals has been revealed
Patients aren't customers
GOING into hospital can be an expensive business these days.
There are the parking charges which, despite Government promises and this newspaper’s crusade, are in too many cases still being charged at an extortionate rate.
But it does not stop there. Now the staggering cost of using bedside TV and phone services has also been revealed.
Hospitals increasingly resemble aggressive businesses, constantly thinking up new ways to wring money out of patients and visitors alike.
It is shameful that the NHS insists on treating patients and their loved ones as cash cows.
Perhaps instead of forcing people to pay a fortune for simple pleasures such as watching television or using the telephone, NHS bosses might like to think about cutting waste, bureaucracy and the inflated salaries of unnecessary backroom staff.
