Whitewashing a Government report is no way to fight extremism in Britain
THE Home Office has been accused of trying to censor a damning report by the Government’s integration tsar.
The Government has been accused by Dame Louise Casey for not dealing with Islamic extremism
Dame Louise Casey is understood to have attacked ministers’ failure to deal with the impacts of immigration, promote integration and tackle extremism.
Attempts to gag Dame Louise are disgraceful and threaten our ability to defend Britain’s culture and values.
Inviting new arrivals to share in our customs and rituals and to take pride in being a part of this country is a powerful way of breaking down social barriers and building communities that are truly integrated.
This cannot be achieved while officials and ministers are more concerned about causing offence than they are with confronting the truth. Clearly in Whitehall political correctness is still deemed to be more important than understanding the root causes of some of our most pressing social problems.
How can we possibly trust the same people who are too afraid to publish these findings to take action against Sharia courts, honour killings, hate preachers and the other dangerous cultural practices that are undermining our laws and our way of life?
We need to see Dame Louise’s report in full and we need to see it soon. Then ministers must prove they have the mettle to stand up for Britain and do what it takes to tackle the problems she has identified.

The Royal Family is a British symbol, and could prove valuable in the Brexit negotiations
The Royal Family and Politics
Diplomatic sources say that the Royal Family could play a “very potent” part in strengthening Britain’s ties with EU countries. The Duchess of Cambridge will set off to prove this tomorrow as she embarks on her first solo overseas visit to the Netherlands.
The Royals are a key symbol of the pomp, circumstance and sense of history that define Britain in the eyes of the rest of the world. Whether they are touring other countries or hosting visiting dignitaries they have a vital role to play in building bridges and bolstering our reputation overseas.
After Brexit we will need to do all we can to establish and maintain trading links and international relationships. Who better to fly the flag for Britain than our immensely popular royals?

Unhappy locals have shut down an outdoor marketplace because it was loud
Fruit and veg sellers at Chapel Market in north London are under threat because the well-heeled residents of a nearby block of flats do not like the noise they make.
If they dislike it that much they should not have bought a flat next to a market – that much is just common sense.
The traders are only doing their jobs and long may they continue.
