Comment: Complacency of European Union chiefs
JEAN-CLAUDE Juncker, the European Commission president, has said that the question of Brexit (Britain leaving the EU) does not arise and is not what the British are seeking.
Is independency from EU what David Cameron and the British people are seeking?
“Cameron wants to dock his country permanently in Europe,” he stated. The complacency of unelected and unaccountable Eurocrats is astonishing.
And, as Britain’s general election showed, attempting to second guess the mind of the electorate is a risky business. It is to be hoped that come the referendum on our membership of the EU, Mr Juncker will realise that he has made a severe misjudgment.
The British have waited patiently for a chance to have their say on Europe and many will expect that when the results are announced Jean-Claude Juncker will have to eat his words.
