Cut down on the cautions
JUSTICE Secretary Chris Grayling is right to place strict new limits on the caution culture in our criminal justice system.
Many crimes are simply too serious to allow the perpetrators to walk away without being hauled before the courts.
And the idea that a particular offender can amass multiple cautions for different offences destroys the ability of a caution ever to work as a final warning.
Whenever the legal system cries wolf the only people to be emboldened are the criminals.
