Railing against lateness
NETWORK Rail missed all its punctuality targets in England and Wales during the financial year 2012-13 despite a £4billion subsidy from taxpayers.
So it is unclear how bonuses for its senior managers can possibly be justified.
It is true that more people are using trains but that is mainly down to population growth and the astronomical costs of motoring.
If Network Rail concentrated less on congratulating itself for trains being busier and more on making sure they ran on time commuters would be very much happier.
