In the dark on green taxes
THE average household’s annual energy bill is £1,194. Of that £84 goes on various “green taxes” and that figure will rise dramatically in the coming years.
Most taxpayers are currently ignorant of the true scale of these environmental levies, so it is essential that the
Government comes clean and does not impose tax by stealth, which was Labour’s way, effectively turning “green” into a dirty word. equally important is the need for competitive energy pricing if manufacturing industry is to get the
kind of incentive it needs in these difficult economic times, with businesses persuaded to stay in britain rather than up sticks and move to countries with cheaper energy deals.
