Nothing to gain from tax
PLANS to raise capital gains tax from 18 per cent to 40 or 50 per cent are a travesty.
Millions of people who voted for a Conservative government are right to feel betrayed. the tax, which is supposed to curb welloff propertyspeculators, will punish hardworking, longterm savers and the elderly.
Only last week David Cameron said his government would rekindle the spirit of entrepreneurship but senior tories, including John redwood, and major financial organisations have warned him of the dire effects his tax hike will cause. So what is to be done?
Our advice is unequivocal: Mr Cameron, this is a major mistake. Show us that you can keep faith with the voters and are man enough to rethink these disastrous plans.
