Welfare reform is a must
IAIN Duncan Smith will today unveil his plans to reform the welfare state radically to discourage long‑term benefits dependency.
The Work and Pensions Secretary deserves the best wishes of everyone as he begins his crusade to simplify the system and to make work pay.
But a weary public will be forgiven for thinking that ministers have made similar announcements many times before and yet nothing much has changed.
After all the false starts of the Labour years on the issue of welfare reform, the one thing voters want to know is that
this time it is for real.
