Our jewel in the crown
IS THERE any country in the world as blessed in its head of state as ours?
There is simply no one else with the moral authority of the Queen who could have addressed the United Nations as she did.
She both praised it for the “waging of peace” and warned of challenges to come, something that would have looked self‑serving and vain, coming from anyone else. But not her. This week it was reported that the cost of the monarchy is 62p per subject.
To say it is cheap at the price would demean her – but she is worth every penny, and a great deal more.
