I feel so sorry for Cheryl Cole
I'M not sitting on or anywhere near the fence but it is possible to feel sorry for Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell simultaneously.
Both acted in good faith – faith in the unassailable omniscience of S Cowell Esq. She thought he could do no wrong. He felt exactly the same. Both were equally shocked, humiliated and indignant when his celebrated flair misfired. All of which only goes to prove the brilliance of X Factor’s title. Star quality is an inexplicable thing. Three singers perform and gyrate on a stage. One without question has the sweetest voice.
One is indubitably the most gifted dancer. Yet for no definable reason the audience is irresistibly drawn to the third. She doesn’t deserve to be the star. She isn’t entitled to our adulation but she exudes a mystical chemical which reacts on the public like a magnet infused with pheromones. Over here our Cheryl oozed the X Factor. Stateside she was just another pretty girl. No one’s fault and it’ll all come out in the wash.
