Non-lethal weapons for police
MANY of us support the right of the police to carry a non-lethal weapon, such as a Taser.
However, with that right come responsibilities and the West Midlands officers who zapped an 83-year-old man who was being psychiatrically assessed and wandered from a care home in Wolverhampton risk losing public support.
The man was stupid enough to show a knife to the police but a few burly coppers with stab vests against an octogenarian is going to end only one way; unless the officers were so incompetent they feared otherwise.
