What went through Tony Blair's head when he heard of his daughter's horrific ordeal?
IT IS horrific that Tony Blair's daughter Kathryn has suffered the ordeal of being held up at gunpoint in a botched robbery.
The fact the 25-yearold barrister and her boyfriend emerged unscathed from the incident is nothing but good news and I wish her a speedy emotional recovery from the trauma.
I can't help wondering how Tony reacted when he heard what had happened.
Speaking as a father of children the same sort of age, it must have been a mix of utter panic and total concern for his child. Then, I wonder, did the understandable emotion of blind rage and potential revenge kick in and, if so, I wonder if he recalled his hollow pre-election pledge of "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime?"
Because those of us, like his own beloved daughter, who don't enjoy the £6million of security we annually lavish on the former PM are always vulnerable and know, in truth, we're not even as tough as an ailing kitten on crime, or criminals.
Looking out of the window of his bullet-proof limo, I wonder if that crossed Mr Blair's mind?
