Problems with the new BBC boss
THERE are many problems besetting the new boss of the BBC. The possible indulgence of the country's most prolific paedophile and the potential involvement of other BBC household names are just two.
Add to this a news and current affairs team so riddled with infighting and paralysed by process they failed to air a programme on that same paedophile that should have gone out and would probably have won awards. Instead they showed one that should never have seen the light of day.
The unions seem able to drag staff out at a whim, the licencepaying public is losing trust and there are reviews into bullying and harassment.
You would not know any of the above from the appearance of new Director General Lord Hall, who posed as he arrived for his first day at work last week.
Whether he thought he would appeal to the Strictly Come Dancing audience with his bizarre routine or he was trying to recall the glory days of Tommy Cooper, Hall, who earns £450,000 a year in the job, looked plain daft. Let's hope he can find his feet once he calms down.
