Invited to hold forth on my opera experience
LAST week I was asked if I would go to Salford to be interviewed for BBC Breakfast about my role in an opera at Covent Garden (as pictured).
I very much wanted to talk about playing the Duchess in La Fille Du Regiment but four hours travelling for a five-minute interview was not a sensible investment of time.
That calculation will probably be made not only by politicians but by anybody who does not live in the Northwest.
Removing the BBC from the capital is daft and all done in the name of political correctness.
I wouldn’t bet against another move: from Salford back to London for current affairs programmes and you and I are the mugs who will pay for it.
Meanwhile read about my opera role in tomorrow’s Daily Express.
