No need for this crisis in foster care
A FOSTER care crisis has developed following the Baby Peter case with so serious a shortage of foster parents that social workers are claiming they are forced to leave children in unsafe homes. What an odd background for the bigots on Derby Council to reject Christians as foster parents for children under 10 just because their views on homosexuality do not chime with state orthodoxy.
And, of course, it is only recently that the Government has ended the practice of Social Service Departments insisting that children can be adopted only by parents of their own race,a requirement which denied loving homes to many children or prolonged their stay in care. Red tape, political correctness and enslavement to the rulebook should all give way to getting children into places of safety but apparently that is too difficult a priority for officialdom to grasp.
