The comedian’s programme Car Share scooped the gong for Best TV Comedy at the star-studded bash presented by Dermot O’Leary.
But the 44-year-old didn’t pick up the award and instead co-star Sian Gibson and two of the show’s producers collected the silver trophy.
She paid tribute to the star in her short speech and said Peter would have been “gutted” to miss out.
Sian commented: "Obviously I have got to say thank you so much to Mr Peter Kay.
