The 58-year-old Irish star, who is charting her cancer journey for Loose Women, made the admission in her latest video diary for the ITV show.
She explained that she was struggling to deal with the agonising wait to find out if her course of radiotherapy had successfully worked to tackle the disease.
“I think the thing about waiting is that you put it out of your mind and you do normal things and then you do something silly,” Linda said.
She went on to say: “I went out for my friend's 60th party, got drunk, came home and had a complete meltdown. Out of the blue. I’d had a great night.
“I phoned The Samaritans and it was engaged three times and I just phoned them because I was scared and because I’d had a drink, that makes everything worse.
“You think it’s going to make it better and it makes everything worse. I texted my breast care nurse in the middle of the night and fell asleep.”
Linda confessed that she didn’t know who to talk to and didn’t want to disturb her family or friends, even though she could call them at any time of day.

“Again, I’m desperate not to burden them,” Linda added, confessing that there was a “little part” of herself that wasn’t okay and wasn’t coping with the cancer.
“I don’t say to my brothers and sisters or my friends that I’m a bit scared of my results because I think they’re all scared of the results as well. So it’s difficult,” she told the camera.
Night time also proved to be a tough time for Linda, who said that she would ruminate about her illness and not be able to talk to anyone about it.

After the video ended and the camera cut back to the studio, the panel could be seen getting emotional and were visibly upset by what they’d seen.
Host Andrea McLean urged anyone affected to get in touch with The Samaritans and just talk to people about their problems rather than suffering in silence.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
