Deborah Watling dead: Doctor Who companion dies age 69 six weeks after cancer diagnosis
DEBORAH WATLING has died after a short battle with cancer at the age of 69, her family has confirmed.

Doctor Who’s second ever assistant was diagnosed with lung cancer just six weeks before her death, according to reports.
The 69-year-old appeared in the BBC sci-fi show alongside Patrick Troughton as the Time Lord back in the late 1960s.
Deborah was best known as Victoria Waterfield - who she played for two years - after following in the acting footsteps of her parents.
She was the daughter of British film star Jack Watling and actress Patricia Hicks, and began acting at a young age.

Many of Deborah’s Doctor Who episodes are currently missing, however Tomb Of The Cybermen was discovered in Hong Kong in 1992.
Following the likes of H. G. Wells’ Invisible Man and A Life Of Bliss, she landed her most famous role to date as Victoria.
Deborah went on to appear alongside the likes of Sir Cliff Richard and David Essex in a number of films.

More recently in 2013, the star took part in a one-off 50th anniversary special, entitled The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot.
Two months ago on May 27, Deborah marked five decades since she first appeared in Doctor Who in the second episode of the fourth season, Evil of the Daleks.
The tragic news comes just days after it was confirmed that Jodie Whittaker had been cast as the 13th, and first female, Doctor.
