The Empire actress' "shrinking" figure has been impossible to miss since last May, however she won't mention numbers.
In her book This Is Just My Face: Try Not To Stare, the 33-year-old opened up about battling bulimia as a child before being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
Admitting it was a long time coming, Gabourey said she now knows going under the knife was the right choice.
The TV star commented: "I was in a war with my body. If I'd started treating it better sooner, I wouldn't have spent some many years hating myself."

After years of being told her eating disorder meant an operation wasn't a good idea, it all changed in 2016.
"After 11 years of saying, 'Surgery will be the last resort,' I was finally here.
"My surgeon said they cut my stomach in half. This would limit my hunger and capacity to eat. My brain chemistry would change and I'd want to eat healthier. I'll take it," Gabourey added.
