Gabourey Sidibe's mother chases dream on America's Got Talent
FIRST it was Mitch Winehouse releasing an album four years after daughter Amy’s award-winning success, now another star’s parent has wowed audiences with their musical talents.
Alice Tan Ridley, mother to Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, who played the lead role in hard-hitting drama Precious, left the judges of America’s Got Talent open-mouthed after auditioning for the show in New York.
Alice, 58, has performed in the subway for the past 20 years but took a day off to belt out Etta James’s classic At Last.
“My daughter is a big star but I’m still pursuing my dream which is to become a great singer,” she said. “Maybe this is it, from the subway to the big stage.”
