Solange took to Twitter earlier in the night to slam the Grammys for a lack diversity in winners
"There have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for album of the year," she tweeted. "There have been over 200 black artists who have performed."
She went on to say: "Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g's." Solange later deleted the tweets.
Beyoncé lost the Best Album gong to Adele who took the award for her latest release, 25.
In her acceptance speech, Adele praised Beyoncé, saying: "I couldn't possibly accept this award. I'm very humbled and very grateful but my life is Beyoncé, and the album to me, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and so soul-baring."
