Sir Rod flew in to the US to publicise his upcoming 18-gig tour, which is planned for the summer.
Alongside Time After Time singer Cyndi Lauper, he will play at venues across the country, including in Florida, Alabama, New York and Texas.
Lauper, 63, said of the tour: “For me honestly... it’s like a bucket list thing.

Rod Stewart acts strangely in bizarre TV appearance
“I’m trying to do everything that I didn’t do, and singing with Sir Rod is a big deal to me because when I started, I was singing his songs.
For me honestly... it’s like a bucket list thing
“I was in the shower trying to squeeze my voice together so that could sound like him. And the fact that he has longevity and that he’s a real musician and that he really is committed, it’s kind of great”.
A sheepish Sir Rod this week told of his embarrassment at a gig at Jones Beach Theatre when he tried to encourage disabled people to dance.

He said: “There was a section of the crowd not up clapping. I jumped down into the audience and just as I got close to them, I realised it was the disabled section. I felt terrible. I was down there at first going, ‘Come on’.
But he added: “They all laughed and thought it was funny.”
