TRENDY diets with celebrity followings were yesterday dismissed as fools’ fads by nutrition experts.
The British Dietetic Association has named five 'celebrity' diets to avoid
The British Dietetic Association named five “celebrity” diets to avoid in 2017, claiming “all you are going to lose is your hard-earned cash”.
The line-up includes Clean Eating, Diet Pills, Teatoxes, the 6:1 Diet and Green Juices. A report by the BDA warned of “seemingly endless amounts of diets out there, all professing to be the key to a better you, with many diets claiming to be ‘healthy’ when they are anything but.
“It is worth considering whether someone is simply profiting on your dreams and all you’re going to lose is your hard-earned cash.”
Sian Porter, a consultant dietitian for the BDA, said: “If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. “Enjoy a rich variety of foods in appropriate portions and be physically active.”
These include Diet Pills, Clean Eating, Teatoxes, the 6:1 Diet and Green Juices

The top five diets to avoid were: Clean Eating, where you avoid all processed foods and eat only “clean” foods. Model Miranda Kerr and actress Jessica Alba are allegedly fans.

BDA verdict: Good idea but branding foods clean and dirty is dangerous. Diet Pills, which claim to keep fat from being absorbed by your body, or suppress appetite. Reality TV stars Kim Kardashian and Sam Faiers are reportedly keen.
Verdict: Diet pills should never be taken without first consulting your GP or pharmacist. Teatoxing, using drinks which claim to detox the body and lose weight.

The 6:1 Diet, which involves eating normally for six days and then fasting for one. Coldplay’s Chris Martin is reportedly a fan.
