In the video, which showed her wearing a floral crown thanks to a Snapchat filter, she said: "I really wanted to make it there to light the tree but with my busy schedule I wasn't able to. I appreciate the offer. Happy holidays."
Lindsay captioned the clip: "Kettering wish I could be with you today sending all my love. Happy holidays!!"

Lindsay shared a video on Twitter to apologise for the cancellation
Both parties wanted to make this happen and worked hard to do so however it was not possible.
Lindsay had said: "sorry but #KETTERING where are you?" and now local MP Phillip Hollobone has slammed the actress for cancelling the festive switch-on.
A source said that Lindsay had received a specially-designed dress made for the evening, but she had refused to turn up unless she got given a "showbiz helicopter and £50,000".
However, the star's spokesperson has since told Express.co.uk: "This is false, I personally handled all of this with Guy Holloway from Kettering government who throws the event and we never had any 'demands'. Both parties wanted to make this happen and worked hard to do so however it was not possible.
"We wish everyone in Kettering and all over the world a happy holiday season!"

Despite this, MP Phillip Holloband said he thinks Lindsay "has made a mistake" in turning the lights switch-on down.
He told the Mirror: "It was a shame she's not able to fulfil her promise to switch the lights on.
"I think she's made a mistake in turning Kettering down. But we're going to have a great switch-on without her."
