Top honour for soul superstar Lionel Richie at the Silver Clef awards
AMERICAN music legend Lionel Richie won the prestigious Nordoff Robbins’ Silver Clef Award today at a ceremony packed with celebrities.

Richie, 67, took the top honour while other winners included boy band One Direction and singer Olly Murs.
Richie said the prize was “the best thing in the world” because of the music charity’s “amazing” work.
He said: “Attached to it are some kids that are probably going to use music therapy as I used it – to pull themselves back together again.”
Richie received the honour, to recognise outstanding talent, at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in London, from Bee Gees star Barry Gibb, 69.
Nordoff Robbins is Britain’s biggest independent charity providing music therapy to children and vulnerable adults.
Among the celebrities braving the rain was TV presenter and mother-of-two Fearne Cotton, 34, who looked stunning in a blue sleeveless top with plunging V-neck and black trousers.

Singer Peter Andre, 43, was with his wife Emily MacDonagh, 26, who showed off her baby bump.
TV personality Gaby Roslin, 51, wore an all-white flowing floor-length skirt.
Other famous guests included Richard Desmond, owner of Express Newspapers and a supporter of the charity.

One Direction were voted best live act.
They said: “Thank you to all our fans for voting.
“Our live show is so important and it is amazing for this to be recognised... for the second time."
