ED SHEERAN has not been having the best week after it emerged that he's being sued for allegedly copying X Factor winner Matt Cardle's song Amazing.
Matt Cardle has spoken out about the controversial lawsuit over Ed Sheeran's song Photograph
News hit the headlines yesterday that the fiery-haired superstar, 25, was embroiled in a £14million lawsuit after he was accused of copyright infringement for his hit Photograph.
Chart-topping songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard have hit out at the singer, declaring that Ed's tune is a "verbatim, note-for-note copying" of their single which was realised by Matt, 33, in 2012.
Meanwhile, the talent show champion has now had his say on the matter and has distanced himself from the controversial legal battle.
Matt distanced himself from the lawsuit, saying he thought Ed was a "genius"

I think Ed Sheeran is a genius and 100% deserves all his success
He said on Twitter: "This is not my lawsuit. I think Ed Sheeran is a genius and 100% deserves all his success."
According to the writ filed in Los Angeles, both songs have considerably similar melodies and nearly identical chord progressions.
"The similarity of words, vocal style, vocal melody, melody and rhythm are clear indicators that Photograph copies Amazing," it read.
"The similarities go beyond substantial, which is itself sufficient to establish copyright infringement and are in fact striking."

Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke were ordered to pay $7.2 million to Marvin Gaye's family
Photograph has sold more than 3.5 million copies globally and features heavily in the Hollywood blockbuster Me Before You which was released in the UK last week.
The music duo, who also work with Kylie Minogue and Emma Bunton, will be represented by Attorney Busch who won a similar case last year against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams on behalf of Marvin Gaye's family.
The singers were ordered to pay $7.2million after using the Motown legend's 1977 song Got To Give It Up as the basis for their number one hit Blurred Lines.
