Janey Godley has hit back at Father Ted creator Graham Linehan after he tweeted about her receiving palliative care, telling him to "keep my name out".

The Scottish comedian took to social media to respond to Linehan's post which read: "I understand Janey Godley is in palliative care. I'm obviously not a fan of her stance on The Issue but I hope her doctors are able to keep her comfortable and, if there's the slightest chance, get her through this."

Godley fired back with: "You sent your hounds after me continuously throughout my cancer care. I will keep supporting transpeople as long as I can -keep my name out please."

The two have been embroiled in an online spat over their conflicting views on transgender rights.

Recently, Godley, 63, shared the heart-wrenching news that she was undergoing palliative care. Diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2021, she had previously announced being cancer-free a year later, only for the disease to return, reports the Mirror.

She was forced to cancel her comedy tour titled 'Why Is She Still Here?' earlier this month following medical advice to cease working indefinitely due to the spread of her terminal cancer.

Currently hospitalised while recovering from sepsis, Godley provided her followers with a sombre update on Wednesday.

"I'm now at end of life care - palliative care-and will be going into a hospice for the foreseeable - thanks to everyone who sends me love and support- you've been amazing," she stated on her widely-circulated Twitter update. In a heartfelt video, she expressed profound gratitude towards the NHS and the medical staff who have provided her with exceptional care in recent weeks.

The video revealed additional details, as Janey said: "So I'm now in palliative care and I'm at end-of-life care now in the hospital. The chemo ran out of options and I just couldn't take any more of it and the cancer has spread. So it looks like this will be getting to near the end of it and it's hard to talk about."

She then thanked everybody for supporting her family during this tough time, including her daughter Ashley and her husband.

With a tone of courage, Janey continued: "It is devastating news to know that I'm facing end-of-life but we all come to an end sometime. I want to thank everybody for supporting the family, especially [her daughter] Ashley and my husband."

Adding to her emotional message, Janey remarked: "The overwhelming support has been amazing, and I don't know how long I've got left before anybody asks. I'm not a TikTok. So I just want you to know that I appreciate all the love you've gave me and all the support. Cancer affects two in one people, and it's affected me."
