'I was glued to it' Eddie Redmayne ditches smartphone to 'live in the moment'
Eddie Redmayne has admitted that he tried to kick his smartphone habit and live with an old-fashioned handset instead, but it didn't last long.

The Brit actor, 34, who is nominated for a BAFTA for his role in The Danish Girl, said the constant stream of emails were way too distracting.
"I tried switching back to a simple, old-fashioned handset in place of a smartphone," he told The Independent.
"It was a reaction against being glued permanently to my iPhone during waking hours. The deluge of emails was constant and I found myself trying to keep up in real time, at the expense of living in the moment."
The Oscar-winner's solution was to sit down at his laptop instead, but that didn't work much better - nor did it go down well with his wife Hannah.

He added: "I was tied to my laptop answering emails for two hours first thing every morning and last thing at night instead, which was a different kind of intrusion.
“I wasn't very popular with Hannah so today I'm back on my iPhone and trying to master a healthier relationship with it."
Eddie has an intense few months ahead, with awards season on the horizon and baby Redmayne on the way in June, so a smartphone could be a necessity.

Speaking lovingly about his wife, Eddie told People magazine in December: "I think saint might be the word. She is an absolute saint. And it's a ride for both of us.
"It's wonderful doing it with someone you love because you also have a second eye on it all. This whole industry is the most joyous, absurd circus."
