Last summer, drummer Shawn Crahan said he feared his bandmate Jim Root could have died on stage if doctors hadn't spotted his appendix problems.
The guitarist was forced to sit out a number of dates on the group's U.S. Mayhem Festival summer tour after falling sick.
He was later diagnosed with a burst appendix and rushed to hospital for emergency surgery in June 2012.
