Nicole Scherzinger reveals she relates to 'broken' Cats character
NICOLE SCHERZINGER has revealed she can relate to her "broken" 'Cats' character.
The former Pussycat Doll is gearing up to make her West End Stage debut as Grizabella in the revival of Andrew Lloyd's Webber's hit musical Cats.
Speaking to the Daily Mail newspaper about her affinity for the feline character, she says her personal battles mirrors her role in the play.
"There are so many layers to her ... no wonder Eliot warned it was too sad for children.
"Grizabella is broken and I know what that feels like, to be broken not only on the inside from personal relationships but in many ways."
She added: "She's been shunned and mistreated by society and her people.
"I understand feeling like an outcast, feeling like an outsider, feeling like I don't fit in and wanting to be accepted."
Despite her strong connection to the role – which was made famous by Elaine Paige – the former X Factor judge confessed that she is actually allergic to cats.
She joked: "I'm allergic to cats! Like, I'm really allergic to cats. I like dogs."
The show has already raked in a staggering £5 million in advance ticket sales at the box office.
The original team of director Trevor Nunn, choreographer Gillian Lynne and composer Lloyd Webber are reuniting to bring the musical back for a limited London run.
The revival will run from 6 December (14) to 7 February (15) at the London Palladium theatre.
