World Cup presenter Gabby Logan reveals she was subjected to sexist remarks in Brazil
SHE'S ONE of Britain's best known sports presenters but Gabby Logan is all too aware sexism is still rife.
The star was thrilled to be asked to head over to Brazil this summer to cover the World Cup for the BBC.
But Gabby, 41, was gobsmacked when someone enquired as to whom was looking after her children while she was away.
The star is married to former Scottish rugby star Kenny Logan, 42, and the pair are proud parents to nine-year-old twins Reuben and Lois.
Speaking about the incident, Gabby said: "People still think it’s a woman’s responsibility to organise everything. When I was away, some of the mums at school asked Kenny how he was coping.
"No one asked me that when he was working in Australia last year. I’m often asked who’s looking after the children when I’m away, yet my male colleagues aren’t."
The former gymnast, who also presented at the 2012 Olympic Games, has admitted she was secretly pleased to be leaving Rio when England were knocked out of the competition early on.
Speaking to Essentials magazine, Gabby added: "England’s early exit from the World Cup was a silver lining because I could go home to see my kids.
"It was good to get back into a routine again, although Lois assumes the role of the woman of the house when I’m away, and she was a bit put out on my first day back. She said, “Oh, Mummy, I missed you”, but it was like she felt she had to say it!"
Last week it was announced Gabby is to host a new show where celebrities are set to try their hand at darts - in the form of a Comic Relief special.
The yet-to-be announced celebs will play alongside professionals in the new BBC Two series Let's Play Darts For Comic Relief.
The celebrities will be asked to adopt their own darts persona, complete with nickname, costume, props and walk-on music.
All net proceeds from tickets sales go to Comic Relief (after VAT and admin fee) and will be spent helping poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa.
