OBE for Island Records boss who turned Amy Winehouse into a global star
THE record company president who turned Amy Winehouse into a global star is awarded an OBE for services to British music.
Darcus Beese started off as a tea boy at Island Records in 1993.
Chantal Coady is given the same honour for building Rococo Chocolates from one shop to Britain’s biggest producer of hand-crafted chocolate.
There are also OBEs for Dr Paul Hawkins, who created the Hawk-Eye sports technology and Martin Lewis, 42, founder of MoneySavingExpert.com.
Pensions expert and former Saga director general Dr Ros Altmann, 57, is made a CBE after years of campaigning for a better deal for the elderly.
Physicist Professor Thomas Kibble, 81, is knighted after helping discover the Higgs boson, or “God particle”.
