Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern is the epitome of chic in black suit at V&A exhibition
SHE'S used to wearing floaty dresses and elaborate head pieces in Downton Abbey, but Elizabeth McGovern went for a more tailored approach when it came to dressing for the red carpet last night.
The actress, who plays Cora, Countess of Grantham in the period drama, showed off her flair for fashion as she made her way to The Glamour of Italian Fashion held at the V&A, dressed in a stylish black suit.
The chic two-piece, made up of a pair of ankle grazing trousers and a perfectly tailored jacket, made the most of the star's slender figure giving her the perfect balance between androgynous and feminine.
Posing up a storm, the 52-year-old oozed confidence as she made her way into the venue, accessorising her look with a blue and green statement necklace and a glitzy clutch bag.
She finished off her look with a pair of statement heels, ensuring she turned heads as she walked the length of the red carpet, happily posing for a number of snaps before making her way inside.
Other stars at the bash included Rita Ora, Naomi Campbell and Elizabeth Hurley, who each pulled out all the stops when it came to their fancy frocks.
Liz looked stunning in a black cut out dress, which she wore with peep toe heels while Rita Ora continued to wow in a white fringed dress, which came complete with a plunging neckline and fur collar.
The exhibition covers post-war designers like Prada, Giorgio Armani, and Dolce & Gabbana, and will open from 5 April to 27 July.
According to the V&A wesbite, it will "be a comprehensive look at Italian Fashion from the end of the Second World War to the present day. The story will be explored through the key individuals and organisations that have contributed to Italy's reputation for quality and style".
