X Factor's Sam Bailey: My life in jail
THE X Factor’s singing prison warden Sam Bailey has revealed the tough-love regime of her day job in a jail housing murderers and violent gangsters.
The mother-of-two with the soulful voice has become a people’s champion with viewers for her level-headed approach to the glitzy show.
“It is fantastic getting pampered but it’s a world away from what I do every day,” says Sam, 35, who lives in Leicester and works at Gartree Prison.
“It is a tough prison as most are serving life sentences but you can make a difference.
“A great moment is when you work with a prisoner who can’t read that well and struggles to interact with their children. Then on a family day you see them sitting reading to their son or daughter.”
