It's only October! Emma Thompson dons a Christmas scarf as she promotes her new book
IT may have just turned October, but to Emma Thompson it's already Christmas.
The 54-year-old wore a very festive scarf as she signed copies of her new book at Waterstone's in Kings Road, London, today.
The 'Love Actually' star teamed the blue, white and red accessory with a cream silk blouse as she grinned for the cameras with her latest piece of work.
It just so happens that her book 'The Christmas Tale Of Peter Rabbit,' is centered around December 25, so it actaully comes as no surprise that the British star was in the Christmassy mood.
Thompson recently took part in a webchat for parenting website 'Mumsnet' regarding her new book and how to foster a love of reading in children, but she ended up speaking about monogamy.
When asked by one member of the public about her role in 'Love Actually,' where her character discovers that her husband is having an affair with a younger colleague, Thompson said: "That's hard for me to imagine – being able to have a relationship like that whilst living at home. It seems odd to me.
"However," she added, "I do think that monogamy is an odd state, and actually I think it's an odd state for women.
"I think that we're locked into certain ideas and certain romantic ideals that have shaped our thinking about relationships for some time.
"And I do sometimes wonder about whether there are alternatives, and about whether our fury and rage and disbelief and horror about infidelity is quite realistic.
"I, of course, have got the t-shirt, so I understand the feelings very well but I think as I get older and think about long-term relationships, I do see that they can change."
'The Christmas Tale of Peter Rabbit' is the second children's book that Thompson has written after she wrote 'The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit' in 2012 as an addition to the Peter Rabbit series by Beatrix Potter to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the publication of 'The Tale of Peter Rabbit.'
She has also written books based on movies for which she wrote the screenplays.
