Johnny Depp pictured with a dead crow on his head for role in The Lone Ranger
A FAN of eccentric film costumes, Johnny Depp’s take on Tonto from the iconic The Lone Ranger series involves wearing a dead crow on his head, a look inspired by a Kirby Sattler painting of a native American.
Armie Hammer, pictured inset and with Depp left, stars as the Lone Ranger and says the headgear is appropriate.
“Johnny and his make-up guy designed the whole look of Tonto and that’s what they came up with.”
Armie, 26, explains: “It is accurate because there was a group of real badass Comanche warriors who actually did use crows like that.”
We hope the RSPB appreciate the historical accuracy.
