ABBA star Bjõrn Ulvaeus predicts the supergroup's avatars will one day chat to the audience, just like artists at a real gig.

Fans attending Voyage in London are treated to a 90-minute concert featuring digital versions of the Swedes performing hits such as Dancing Queen and Fernando.

But when the avatars speak to the crowd, the conversation is only one-way as it is pre-recorded.

In future, Bjõrn reckons there will be even more advances in artificial intelligence and the 1974 Eurovision winners - who also comprise Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad - will be able the gig.

The singer-songwriter, now 79, said: "AI will change everything. Soon these avatars will be able to speak to the audience."

ABBA Voyage has been in London's East End since May 2022.

An arena was built especially to house the hi-tech concert and Bjõrn is thrilled its arrival has also boosted the economy in the surrounding boroughs. He added: "That is a benefit we never thought of but we made a survey and it seems to be really buzzing there with new pop-ups and people, of course, being employed by us."
