Downton Abbey's Elizabeth McGovern to make her debut at Edinburgh's Fringe Festival
ACTRESS Elizabeth McGovern is set to play this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival, it's been revealed.
The Downton Abbey star will play the arts festival in August with her band Sadie and the Hotheads.
Best-known for her role as Lady Cora in the hit ITV1 period drama, McGovern, 51, will make her debut at the well-known event, treating audiences to her unique fusion of folk and country music.
The New Town Theatre unveiled a programme of Fringe debuts and international performances today, and McGovern will no doubt be a popular act on the bill.
She began fronting Sadie and the Hotheads back in 2008. The band released an album of songs she developed with The Nelson Brothers, who are now part of the band.
The album also includes Ron Knights on bass and Rowan Oliver, borrowed from Goldfrapp, as drummer for the recording sessions.
Michelle Dockery, who plays McGovern's eldest daughter in Downton Abbey, has occasionally sung with the band too.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival runs from August 2 until the 26. Tickets go on sale on May 10.
