Dan Stevens's Downton Abbey confession
DOWNTON star Dan Stevens reveals what first attracted him to the ITV period drama – and it wasn’t the prospect of acting next to Lady Mary.
Dan tells Town & Country magazine that it was Julian Fellowes’s writing that managed to mix the drama with the comedy.
“It had tongue-incheek nods to modernity, which I enjoyed,” says Dan, 30.
The actor also revealed that his notoriety in Downton has helped him feel more at home while acting on Broadway in the play The Heiress by Ruth and Augustus Goetz.
“I feel as though I’m a long way from home but that Downton has followed me,” he adds.
“The enthusiasm here is so great.”
