From Downton Abbey to down and out
TV toff Hugh Bonneville goes from Downton Abbey to down on his luck as he plays a tramp in a new TV comedy.
Bonneville, 48, sported a dirty raincoat, torn trousers and scruffy grey beard while shooting the aptly named Mr Stink.
It was far cry from his role as Downton’s suave, sophisticated Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, in ITV’s hugely popular period drama.
The actor was filming Mr Stink for the BBC with Britain’s Got Talent winner Pudsey the dog in Hemel Hempstead, Herts.
The one-off family show, which is expected to be aired around Christmas, is based on a children’s book by comedian David Walliams.
It also stars Sheridan Smith and Johnny Vegas and tells the story of a lonely 12-year-old girl called Chloe, played by Nell Tiger Free, who befriends a vagrant.
