Downton Abbey picks up just three gongs after 16 nominations
DOWNTON Abbey despite receiving 16 nominations, received three awards at the 64th annual Emmy Awards.
Dame Maggie Smith picked up the gong for best supporting actress, beating red-head siren Christina Hendricks.
Stars of the show were out in style as the ladies donned their best dresses for the evening.

Maggie Smith was unable to attend however Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt both sparkled on the red carpet.
Michelle Dockery dazzled in a blue full-length gown for the evening's entertainement while Joanne Froggatt ditched the pinny and opted for a strapless cream number.

The pair were joined by Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes at the award night.
Meanwhile British actor Damian Lewis won the Emmy for best actor for his role in Homeland.
Lewis poked fun at the award ceremony, he said: "I don't really believe in judging art, but I thought I'd show up just in case."
