Pamela Anderson urges British Columbia officials to sign shark fishing ban
PAMELA ANDERSON is urging city officials in her native British Columbia to sign off on a new Canadian pact to outlaw shark fin products - because she's disgusted by the practice of killing the fish for an expensive delicacy.
The animal-loving actress and activist is pleased Toronto councillors voted to ban menu items like shark fin soup last year (11) and she wants cities like Richmond and Langley to follow suit when the legislation comes into effect next month (Sep12).
She tells GlobalToronto.com, "Hooking sharks, pulling them from the water, cutting off their fins while they are still alive, then dumping them back into the ocean to suffer and die is appalling. To do so for a bowl of soup is indefensible."
