A This Morning star has been rushed to hospital for emergency surgery just months after going under the knife for another operation. Michelle Elman, who is one of the ITV daytime show’s experts, was forced to go for emergency surgery on Wednesday (February 18). Taking to her Instagram Story, the broadcaster revealed she needed to undergo a 19th surgery this week after recently revealing she had a life-saving operation earlier this year.

She wrote: “Ended up needing emergency surgery. So much for the Chinese New Year being a fresh start. Had surgery on the first day of the year and the Chinese New Year.” It is not yet known what type of surgery Michelle underwent.

She then shared another update with her loyal legion of fans, revealing: “Got two new scars on my neck and collarbone”. The presenter added that the first thing she asked when she came round from the anaesthesia was if the doctors had altered her tattoo.

Her third post then showed a beaded bracelet that Michelle’s nephew had made for her, which said: “Get better”. Alongside the sweet snap of her homemade gift, Michelle revealed she had now gone through a total of 19 surgeries, including the one she went through this week.

She quipped: “I think 19 surgeries is enough for a lifetime”. In a post shared last month, Michelle opened up about the 18 surgeries she has had and the impact that they’ve had on her physical and mental health.

Michelle explained: “Now had a total of 18 surgeries, three brain surgeries and an abdominal one too.” She went on to detail how “Hydrocephalus is the thing that is responsible for the majority of my surgeries, and I wish it would get more attention because it needs the awareness.”

The life coach - who bravely opened up about ending her engagement after one day on the ITV show last year - added: “I still don’t think my value is in the right setting and that’s going to take months to figure out, but most of the day I’m no longer in pain and that’s a welcome break from the last 3 months.”

Michelle lives with Hydrocephalus, which means that fluid builds up in the brain, causing dangerous pressure that can be fatal if left untreated. According to the NHS, the damage to the brain from hydrocephalus can cause a range of symptoms, including headaches, being sick, blurred vision and difficulty walking.

Back in November, Michelle explained that she was due to have brain surgery. Taking to Instagram, she revealed:” Yesterday I found out I need another brain surgery. I have a cyst in my brain again, and also the magnet in my brain needs replacing.” Michelle had a metal magnet implanted in her brain to control the flow of fluid.
