Prince Harry and Meghan Markle need to steer clear of Hollywood before it's too late

OPINION: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just cannot seem to leave the Hollywood elite alone - and it's starting to look a bit desperate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem unable to escape the glaring spotlight - it's as if they're addicted to it. Do they want their privacy respected as they go about their daily lives with their two young children in California, or do they seek publicity? It's a royal paradox. During their infamous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan stated she and Harry wanted to set "boundaries" similar to how a non-famous person would expect their social media accounts to be private and not be open to the world.

So, why are they attending the 70th birthday party of Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner on Remembrance Day weekend? Almost all of the Hollywood elite participated in the James Bond-themed extravagant gathering, from Kim Kardashian and Kendal Jenner to Beyoncé Knowles and Mariah Carey.

What's more, the lavish bash was held at Jeff Bezos' Beverly Hills mansion - just a stone's throw from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and everyone was sharing snaps on their Instagram public feeds. It was hardly going to be a quiet event with no photography - so what message are Meghan and Harry trying to send?

First of all, Meghan didn't wear a poppy, and it sparked a massive backlash online, especially since Harry had one pinned to his tuxedo. Did she not realise she would be lambasted for this? Or was it some kind of publicity stunt? Maybe Meghan goes by the famous words of 19th-century showman P.T. Barnum when he said, "there's no such thing as bad publicity".

It got stranger. Meghan and Harry were quietly removed from Kim and Kris' Instagram following the party, leading to speculation that the couple either didn't like the photographs and wanted them taken down or that they are being perceived as irrelevant by the Kardashians.

Has reality television royalty become more important than the British Royal Family in Hollywood, with Kim, 45, being the reigning Queen of Calabasas? Could the decision to delete all traces of Meghan and Harry at her mother's birthday be the ultimate power move? Or was Kim just following a request to delete them from the royal pair?

Either way, the removal has painted Meghan and Harry in a bad light, and the pictures were less than flattering of the couple when they were dancing with Kris. My advice? Steer clear of Hollywood and regain some respect before it's too late, and they are taken as a joke.

Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, is known for standing by the well-known motto, "Never complain, never explain", which symbolised her family's tradition of refraining from public justifications.

Perhaps Meghan should focus on her Netflix specials and cooking, and Harry should redirect his attention to charity work rather than partying with the rich and famous.
