Inside luxury celebrity spa loved by James Bond icon and Princess Diana
A number of celebrities love visiting this stunning UK spa franchise, and it is clear to see why.

Nestled in the picturesque English countryside, Champneys Health Spa offers more than just a luxurious escape — it's a favourite retreat for A-listers and wellness lovers alike. With a legacy dating back 100 years, this iconic wellness brand has brought in celebrities like Kate Moss, James Bond legend Daniel Craig and even the late Princess Diana, who have all previously visited the stunning venues.
It boasts impeccable grounds, manicured gardens, and in the case of the Forest Mere destination, a stunning lake. The spa facilities are extensive and modern, including a 25-metre swimming pool, ice cream, saunas and even a rainforest shower. The treatments, however, are the true standout. I have been lucky enough to travel there a few times over the years — and while it is always busy due to its popularity, which can make it tricky to relax, it has always been a treat.

Champneys is known for its indulgent and health-conscious menu, with a healthy lunch buffet option and a three-course meal for those staying the night, for those who want to treat themselves without feeling guilty the next day. The rooms are spacious and elegantly understated, and on one visit, I loved having a view of the lake to enjoy a drink on at the end of the night. With the spa being so busy during the afternoon, I would definitely recommend investing in a spa stay rather than break, as the room was one of the highlights for me and I then felt I had time to use everything I wanted.

Champneys manages to strike a delicate balance between exclusivity and accessibility. While it’s not unusual to spot a reality star or soap actress at breakfast, the atmosphere remains refreshingly unpretentious. It wasn't a perfect stay, as we found the waiting time to book meal times and to use the spa facilities a little frustrating. But if you're a looking for a spa that ticks all of the boxes, Champneys could be the one for you. And who doesn't like to do a little celeb spotting while having their poached eggs?
