Toyah Willcox has landed a new role just days after her exit from Strictly Come Dancing. The singer, 66, became the second celebrity eliminated from the competition alongside her professional partner Neil Jones.

However, Toyah isn't looking back as she has joined the cast of new musical NOW That’s What I Call A Musical, which is already touring the UK.

The actress is set to appear as a special guest star when the show arrives in Edinburgh next February and March. Toyah will reunite with her Strictly co-star Craig Revel Horwood as it is being choreographed by the TV judge.

The show celebrates 40 years of the iconic compilation album series, NOW That’s What I Call Music. Beginning in Birmingham in 1989, it follows best friends Gemma and April who are "busy with very important business - planning their lives based on Number One Magazine quizzes and dreaming of snogging Rick Astley".

However, there's trouble ahead when the story cuts to 20 years later when the girls attend "the most dreaded event of their lives - the school reunion".

NOW That’s What I Call Music premiered at Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre in September, and begins its tour this week at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal. It will travel across the UK and Ireland before concluding in April 2025 at London’s New Wimbledon Theatre.

Toyah found herself in the bottom two for the second time during last week's Strictly. Toyah and Neil performed their Samba to Poor Unfortunate Souls, receiving a score of just 15.

They faced Paul Merson and Karen Hauer, who danced the Cha Cha to The Magnificent Seven. All three judges chose to save Paul and Karen, with head judge Shirley Ballas agreeing that she would have made the same decision.

Speaking about her time on the show, Toyah said: "It's been the best two months of my life, it has been fantastic. I have enjoyed every second. And you [Neil] have been phenomenal, thank you so much."

Neil added: "She has made me laugh so much, I have never seen someone work so hard - I'm the one asking for breaks every now and then! She just kept going, she wanted to learn so much.

"If you saw her in the hallway she's been practising. Everyone's been telling me, ‘Have you seen Toyah practising’. she's brilliant and she's what Strictly is all about, and I've loved every moment."
